Tulum

New Year’s Eve at NOMADE

For those welcoming the new year in Tulum, our agent Christie recommends celebrating New Year’s Eve at NOMADE Tulum, where the transition into 2026 begins with the opening of Bonding Season 2026.

NOMADE’s New Year’s Eve celebration is an evening of music, connection, and shared experience, set amid its lush jungle surroundings. The event marks the first chapter of the season with a focus on togetherness and intention, creating a setting that feels both festive and thoughtful.

Music and Atmosphere

The night’s musical program blends the spirit of Tulum with global influences, creating a soundscape that evolves throughout the evening. The New Year’s Eve lineup includes Bora Uzer, Laolu, Soul Clap, and Toni Aparis, setting the tone for a celebration centered on rhythm, movement, and connection rather than spectacle alone.

Dining Experience

NOMADE’s New Year’s Eve dinner experience brings together the full range of its culinary offerings. The menu includes elements of omakase, open-fire cooking from the 4 Fuegos concept, and a thoughtfully curated selection of vegetarian dishes. The courses reflect a balance of land and sea, highlighting craft, seasonal ingredients, and refined preparation. An open bar is available during the early portion of the evening, from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Extending Into the New Year

Bonding Season continues beyond New Year’s Eve, running from December 27 through January 19, allowing guests to experience the broader seasonal programming that frames this celebration as the beginning of a longer journey rather than a single night.

Playa del Carmen

Welcoming the New Year at Sunrise at Xcalacoco Beach

Playa del Carmen offers no shortage of New Year’s Eve celebrations. As midnight approaches, the town comes alive with rooftop parties, music, and fireworks lighting up the sky on and around Fifth Avenue. For many, it is a fun and energetic way to close out the year.

But once the noise fades and the streets grow quiet, a different kind of New Year begins. Our COO, Matt, prefers to welcome January 1 at dawn on Xcalacoco Beach, joining locals who gather early to watch the sun rise over the eastern horizon.

In the early morning hours, Xcalacoco feels calm and unhurried. People arrive with coffee, towels, or simply their thoughts, settling along the shoreline as the sky slowly changes color. When the sun finally breaks over the water, the moment feels reflective and grounding, offering a peaceful reset after the night before.

There is no schedule and no structure to the gathering. Some step into the sea, others sit quietly, and many simply watch the light spread across the beach. It is a simple ritual that captures a softer side of Playa del Carmen and sets a thoughtful tone for the year ahead.

Acapulco

Fireworks Gala Over the Bay and a Slow New Year’s Day

New Year’s Eve in Acapulco is defined by its bay. As midnight approaches, the curve of the coastline becomes the stage for one of the city’s most recognizable traditions, fireworks illuminating the sky and reflecting across the water on Bahía de Santa Lucía. It is a moment that feels celebratory and timeless, especially when viewed from above the bay or along the shoreline.

For New Year’s Eve dinner, our agent Rodrigo recommends Praya Restaurant for both its setting and its menu. Set above the water with sweeping views of the bay, Praya is an ideal place to settle in for dinner and drinks before the fireworks begin. Rodrigo’s go-to dishes include spaghetti Alfredo, fresh oysters, and short ribs, followed by brioche bread pudding with dulce de leche, which he insists is worth saving room for. It is the kind of meal that encourages you to linger, watch the light change, and ease into the night.

On New Year’s Day, Acapulco naturally slows down. Rodrigo suggests heading to Bora Bora for brunch, where the atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried. The focus here is on brunch specials and fresh fish, making it a great spot to start the year with something light, simple, and well-prepared. With ocean views and a laid-back pace, it is an easy transition from the energy of the night before.

Taken together, fireworks over the bay, a long dinner at Praya, and a quiet New Year’s Day brunch at Bora Bora offer a well-balanced way to welcome the new year in Acapulco.

Mexico City

Fireworks Along Paseo de la Reforma

New Year’s Eve in Mexico City carries a different kind of energy. As the clock approaches midnight, Paseo de la Reforma becomes one of the most recognizable places in the city to welcome the new year, with fireworks lighting up the skyline and reflecting off the historic monuments that line the avenue. It is a shared moment that feels both grand and communal, drawing people from across the city together.

According to our agent Rodrigo, part of what makes celebrating here special is the sheer range of dining options leading into the night. Mexico City is home to an extraordinary concentration of high-end restaurants, and choosing where to dine comes down entirely to personal taste. Whether you prefer contemporary Mexican cuisine, classic fine dining, or something more experimental, there is no shortage of exceptional places to begin the evening before heading out to watch the fireworks.

The combination of world-class dining and the spectacle of fireworks along Reforma captures Mexico City at its best, vibrant, layered, and full of possibility as the new year begins.

Merida

Family Fun at Parque La Plancha and Paseo de Montejo

For New Year’s Eve in Mérida, our agent Loris recommends spending the evening in the city’s central public spaces, where the holiday programming is designed to be accessible, family-friendly, and community-focused.

Villa Navideña at Parque La Plancha

On December 31, the Villa Navideña at Parque La Plancha remains open as part of the city’s holiday celebrations. The Villa Navideña operates from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM and is free to attend.

Set within one of Mérida’s most iconic parks, the space features holiday lighting, themed installations, and areas designed for walking, photos, and seasonal activities. The Villa Navideña is located near the park’s flagpole area, making it easy to find and navigate. On weekends, the park also hosts Christmas-themed performances such as the Gran Fiesta del Polo Norte, which takes place at 7:00 PM.

Ice Skating on Paseo de Montejo

Earlier in the day on New Year’s Eve, visitors can head to Paseo de Montejo for the free ice-skating rink Magia sobre Hielo, part of the Mérida Brilla festival. On December 31, the rink is open from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

The rink is located near the Justo Sierra roundabout and measures 25 by 10 meters, with an additional slide that is 4 meters high and 20 meters long. Skates are provided at no cost, and socks are required. Entry is limited by capacity, with tickets distributed at the entrance until capacity is reached. Children must be at least 8 years old, and those under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

A Seasonal Evening in the City

Together, Parque La Plancha and Paseo de Montejo offer a clear picture of how Mérida marks the end of the year through public spaces, seasonal programming, and free activities that run on a defined schedule. For those in the city on December 31, these locations offer a structured, welcoming way to experience New Year’s Eve.

New Year’s Eve in Mexico is shaped by place. Each city offers its own rhythm, from quiet mornings by the sea to shared moments in public spaces and landmarks that carry history and meaning. However it is experienced, the transition into the new year feels grounded in the setting itself.

Across these destinations, the common thread is intention. The end of the year becomes less about spectacle and more about presence, offering a thoughtful way to step into what comes next.
